Born in Geneva in the mid 80's, and passionate about drawing from a very young age, it is at the end of the 90's that YGREK discovered hip-hop, tag and graffiti. His love for the letter guides him towards studies in graphic arts, which he completes in 2012 with a Master's degree in design.

Always eager to see his letters adorn the public space, he wonders about the ways in which "ordinary people" can freely appropriate the public space. Thus in 2010 he became interested in wire mesh as a new medium for typographic creations. Their grid can be transformed into a multitude of "pixels", each of which can be filled with wide strips of tape.

Faithful to his "vandal" origins, he continues to spontaneously affix his letters in the urban landscape. Only the technique and the rendering change, the motivation remains the same. Sometimes he also creates more abstract works, flirting between geometry and optical art, calligraphy and pixel art, typography and graffiti.

To date, his works can be seen in many metropolises, such as Montreal, Berlin, Paris, Brussels, Milan, Lisbon, Athens, Dublin, Lyon, Zurich, etc. Some of his creations can even be found at more than 2600 meters, on the snowy peaks of Crans-Montana, or in the middle of the Tuscan lands and up to the gates of the volcanic desert of the island of Fuerteventura.
